Who I am?

I’m Ven Jemeršič, a Slovenian director, cinematographer, musician, and poet. After graduating from the Academy of Dramatic Art (ADU) in Zagreb in 1995, I had the privilege to attend a Master Class with Oscar-winning cinematographers Vilmos Zsigmond and Billy Williams. I later completed my master’s degree in cinematography at ADU in 2012.

Over the years, I’ve directed and shot hundreds of commercials, music videos, TV series, and films. My work includes over 500 commercials, more than 170 music videos, and 8 feature films. I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with major Slovenian and Croatian brands, as well as creating long-running TV shows like Lepo je biti sosed and Da, dragi! Da, draga!.

As a founding member of the Slovenian Society of Cinematographers (ZFS), I remain committed to the craft of visual storytelling. I’m also active in literature and music. I’ve published three books (Ultrapas, Električni golaž, and PWC), played bass with groups like Buldožer, Sestre, and Lusterdam, and continue to explore sound under my solo electronic project Ven.

I run the production company Supermarket d.o.o. and manage Zavod Partizanka, a film equipment rental house. Whether behind the camera, on stage, or at the writing desk, I’m always driven by the urge to tell stories—visually, sonically, and emotionally.
